water well maintenance

If your home runs on well water, you are responsible for scheduling annual water testing and maintenance for the well. And it’s especially important to call for water well maintenance services if something is wrong with the well. But if you’re new to well water, you may not know when something is wrong. So to help you out, we’ve compiled a list of a few warning signs of problems that typically need to be fixed by a professional.

You have decreased water pressure: One of the first signs of a problem with your well is a decrease in your water pressure. There could be many different causes of decreased water pressure, like a leaking pressure tank or failing pump. But there also could be a more serious cause, like excess iron bacteria clogging up the pipe. So if you notice your water pressure isn’t what it normally is, call your well company to schedule an inspection. If you don’t take care of the problem, it could only get worse.

Your water quality is different: Another problem that warrants water well maintenance is a change in water quality. If you notice smelly well water, different colored water, or a strange taste, it’s important to call a well company right away. Contamination can be common with well water so you need to schedule a water test. If your water test does show the presence of contaminants, the well company will most likely suggest a water treatment and filtration system to ensure your drinking water is clean and safe.

You hear strange sounds: With each American using about 88 gallons of water in their home every day, you probably know what your plumbing sounds like when the water is being used. So if you hear sounds that are normal, that may be a sign something is wrong. Strange sounds like groaning pipes or a humming well pump aren’t good and should be addressed quickly. To avoid further issues, make sure you call your well company to come check out the noise.

Hopefully, this article provided some helpful information on common well problems. If you notice any of these problems, call a well company sooner rather than later.
